The BIN is led by Director Susan Renoe. She received her BA and MA in Anthropology from MU and a MA and PhD in Education from the University of California-Santa Barbara. Her dissertation focused on the teaching and learning of archaeology in the collegiate setting, and she spent time teaching courses on archaeology to third and fourth graders through the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s summer Xplorations program. Before beginning her work with BIN, she served as the Assistant Director of the MU Office of Undergraduate Research and served as program coordinator for the Exposure to Research for Science Students (EXPRESS) Program, which provides laboratory experiences for underrepresented groups in the life sciences. Dr. Renoe also participated in two undergraduate research programs at MU—the College of Arts & Sciences Undergraduate Research Mentorship Program & the McNair Scholars Program.
